What Happens When Two Manic Crafters Have an Idea...

The story behind the Manic Crafter Crate—and why we're hoping every box feels like a little happy in your mailbox.

I've been thinking about doing a subscription box for years. And honestly? If you know me, it probably doesn't come as much of a surprise.

I LOVE subscription boxes.

I love the anticipation of knowing something is coming in the mail, and not knowing exactly what's inside. I love opening the box and discovering the little surprises tucked inside. I love when something is useful, something is unexpected, and something makes me smile simply because someone took the time to put it together.

And I really love a theme. Give me a holiday, a season, a color palette, a cute fabric, a fun idea... and my brain immediately starts running. What could we make? What would go together? What would someone love to receive?

And before I know it, I'm surrounded by fabric, beads, paper, ribbon, craft supplies and approximately 47 ideas.

Which is where The Manic Crafter Crate came from.

So...Why a Crate?

The Manic Crafter Crate is a way for us to bring all of those things we love together.

• Surprises.

• Themes.

• Crafting.

• Curating.

• Creating.

• And making someone feel a little special.

Jess and I have a pretty wide range of crafting talents, and we've realized that sometimes the hardest part about having so many things we love to make is choosing what to make next! So instead of choosing just one craft, we decided...

Why not make a little bit of everything?

Each Crate is thoughtfully curated around a theme, with 4–6 handmade creations and

little surprises tucked inside.

Some things will be practical.

Some might be pretty.

Some might be something you didn't know you needed until you opened the box.

And some might simply make you say:

“Oh my gosh, this is so cute!”

That's exactly what we're going for.

We Want it to give you all the feels.

This is probably the biggest reason we're doing this.

We don't just want to make things.

We want to make things that make people feel something.

Maybe it's the excitement of seeing a package on your doorstep.

Maybe it's opening the box and discovering what's inside.

Maybe it's finding a handmade item that makes you think of your favorite season.

Maybe it's a little surprise that makes an ordinary Tuesday feel a little more fun.

Or maybe it's simply the feeling of knowing that someone spent time creating something just for you. Because handmade is different. There is something really special about knowing that an actual person chose the materials, put the pieces together, made the item, packed it up and sent it on its way. That's the feeling we want the Manic Crafter Crate to have.

And Yes...There Will Be Themes. 😉

So naturally, the Crate had to have them.

Every other month, we'll introduce a new edition with two different vibes to choose from.

Maybe you're feeling cozy and seasonal.

Maybe you want something a little spooky.

Maybe you love a particular holiday.

Maybe you just really, really love a certain color or print.

Whatever the theme, we'll be looking for ways to make the entire experience feel cohesive, fun and a little unexpected.

And because we're making everything in small batches, your Crate won't feel like something that came off an assembly line.

It will feel like something we made. Because it is.

This has been an idea I've carried around for a long time.

It's exciting (and a little terrifying!) to finally put it out into the world.

We don't know exactly where this adventure is going to take us yet—and honestly, that's part of the fun.

We'll be learning, creating, experimenting, changing things up and probably having a few “Wait...what if we did THIS?!” moments along the way.

But we do know one thing:

We're going to put a whole lot of love, creativity and a little bit of our manic crafting energy into every Crate.
